Javier Arévalo is a Senior Advisor in Research Management at the University of Helsinki, with over 6 years of experience in supporting the university leadership in strategic research initiatives, adding to two years of experience as the research funding advisor for the life science area. Prior to that, he worked as a postdoc researcher in natural resource management at the University of Eastern Finland. Javier holds a Certificate in Research Development (SRA International), a Ph.D. in Forestry and Agriculture (University of Eastern Finland), and an MSc in Forestry (Technical University of Madrid, Spain). In addition to the Fulbright grant, he is the recipient of other awards including SRAI’s Best Poster and John Robinson Travel Award as well as the University of Helsinki’s Encouragement Prize for Excellent Work.
His Fulbright grant to UC Davis focused on benchmarking the research support services, with specific attention to team science approaches as well as to interdisciplinary and strategic initiatives.
