Dr. Tushar K. Dutta is a Senior Scientist (Nematology) at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) at New Delhi, India. He has obtained his B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Uttarbanga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV), Coochbehar, West Bengal. He obtained his M.Sc. (Nematology) and Ph.D. (Nematology) from IARI. During his Ph.D. program (2007-2011) he visited Rothamsted Research, Harpenden, United Kingdom as UKIERI Research Fellow (British Council funded).
During his professional career at IARI, since 2010, he has served as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI in a number of research projects funded by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). His research interests include molecular basis of plant-nematode interaction, characterization of bacterial toxins for insect pest management etc.
He has been inducted as the Associate Fellow, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS). He has received Jawaharlal Nehru Award (from ICAR), Crop Protection Young Scientist Award (from AAPP), DJ Raski Award (from NSI). He is the editorial board member of BMC Plant Biology, BMC Genomics, Plos One and PeerJ journals. He has served as the reviewer of international grant proposal.
