UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May honored Nancy J. Allen and Samuel Sandoval Solis with the 2022 Chancellor's Award for International Engagement at the seventh annual International Connections Reception.
The sixth annual UC Davis International Connections Reception, hosted by Global Affairs on March 4, brought together the UC Davis community in an online forum to celebrate several award and grants programs, including the 2021 Chancellor’s Awards for International Engagement presented by Chancellor Gary S. May. The awards recognize faculty and staff members for their outstanding international engagement in advancing the university’s teaching, research, and service missions, whether through leading global research projects, collaborating with colleagues around the world, promoting global learning or innovative pedagogy, or facilitating these activities to create positive change.
In recognition of its extraordinary global learning, research, and engagement efforts, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today named the University of California, Davis the Platinum Award level winner of the 2020 Institutional Award for Global Learning, Research & Engagement. The Platinum Award is APLU’s highest-level award granted to a member institution in recognition of inclusive and comprehensive efforts to internationalize their campus.
Laura Van Auker, an assistant clinical professor in the UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, has built global partnerships with nursing schools and health organizations around the world, most recently as a Global Affairs Faculty Ambassador.
For the third year, UC Davis honored those on campus advancing the research, teaching, and service mission of UC Davis through their international engagement with Chancellor’s Awards for International Engagement. The annual reception and awards ceremony also featured the announcement of the Academic Senate’s inaugural Excellence in Teaching in Study Abroad Awards for Academic Senate and Academic Federation members—which were followed by recognition of this year’s recipients of various Global Affairs grant and development programs.
